Poem I wrote while depressed.
Desperate Measures

Sitting alone in the dark recesses of desperation
Feeling there is no place to belong
Staring emotionlessly into space
Inside screaming for absolution
The cold steel of the blade
Yearning for the warm caress of blood
Slowly sliding through skin and flesh
Bringing forth the red liquid of life
Flowing along slowly
Resting in a growing pool on the floor
The pain is unbearable but goes unnoticed
The agony in the heart much greater
Watching the constant drip from the fingertips
Waiting for the inevitable as time goes on
Unable to focus anymore
The world starts spinning
As the end nears
Field of vision fading to black
The body becomes relaxed
Soon the sound of a slowing heartbeat
Is the only thing that can be heard
One last gasp for air before it stops
No more lonely nights or heartache
Just a lifeless lump of flesh
That used to be a person
Who thought living was pointless
After being denied the love of another
