East Germany after WWII, but before the Berlin Wall was built (the issues).
Germany’s Sick Man

Herr Pieck, I believe East Germany has a problem,
As you can see, sir, our people condemn
Our communist way of life, fleeing West.
Even the scientists of WWII perform border tests.
The West plots our downfall, I conclude,
Crying, pleading for clothing and food—
Soldiers ignoring the screams and pouts,
Though checking IDs let motorists out.
We must keep our citizens in;
This struggle we can win!
