a double rondelet, the Fakahatchee Strand is magic at the edge of the Everglades
The Strand

Fakahatchee
softly fuses woods and water.
Fakahatchee
rustles with sighs from cypress trees,
mewlings of a river otter.
I am transformed to Pan's daughter,
Fakahatchee.

The wild grasses
muffle a frog's rub-a-dub-dub.
The wild grasses
whirr as a blue heron passes.
Black snakes hiss like Beelzebub.
The planets spin, this is my hub,
the wild grasses.
