Rhonda, A Collaborative Christmas Acrostic
A Cheryl's Pals Collab
by Steve Cope
12-21-2008
UPDATE:  See below collab for the Acrostic part
FEATURED:  An awesome Acrostic Tribute is displayed at the bottom.  PatrickB is the Bomb!

This must be karma, or some sort of sign.
When I awoke in the sky I did see a bright shining star.
Merry Christmas to one and all
In snow drifts of white we slip, slide, and fall .

Aware of the true meaning of Christmas you must be
Rolling in snow heaven and having a ball
Is fun but not the reason we say Merry Christmas.
Building an igloo with icy walls

And shoving our feelings away from the world.  We should
Make joyful memories for the future to recall
Instead more often than not we miss the greatest gift of all.
In exchange for the trinkets and baubles from Jared.

Playfully laughing through the snowdrifts of fall
Red rosy cheeks from winter's stinging kiss
We can see, hear, and feel life coursing through our veins, I wish to
Give loved ones far away much love and a call
Twenty-0ne years ago in a small (at the time) town called Oak Cliff
In the church where Jesus showed me my love for all time,
We did meet and for six months I was petrified to say what He told me.
'THIS IS YOUR WIFE." Those were the words I heard in my heart.

Peace On Earth and good will toward men;
Is more than wishful thinking.  It is His sole desire for His creation.
A Christmas Eve wedding will make you mine
oh yes it did, Christmas day actually!
Collecting all the joys I can find, I put my memory on rewind and you're everywhere.

Excited and filled with longing thirst,
with joy and excitement my heart could burst
"Rhonda, will you marry me"?
I did ask on September 5 (p.s. she said yes!).

Ho Ho Ho, I'm here to Rhyme,
To share my Prose at Christmas Time
To make your heart joyful with verse,
to lighten the chill of winters curse

And to tell you true that it's oh so right
Christmas miracles can come true when you do things aright.
Family was not so gleeful and yet we knew
What God has put together, let no man put asunder, is for us anew.

I knew an Ebeneezer who recited this rhyme
Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice
Peppermint candy and cheese for the mice
warm as a flickering flame, cold as ice

Such a cool rhyming scheme this does ring
To a close soon and very soon this collaborator will bring.
Surviving stormy weather
and it would seem a flurry of feathers.
To this day we stand and stand we will forever more.

Christmas lights shining bright
Santa hidden and out of sight.
It's just me and you on this night
Let us say to one and all Merry Christmas
and to all a blessed New Year!

This collab officially ends here and beloved the collaborators are among the finest crew one could ask to assist in creating a 21st anniversary collab.
Lady 'Cheryl',Colleen, A-Rhodi, sheila A, Rubylightening, Michelle K. Jimmy B, LadySeda, RJL&MissMolly, Cherry Rose and your servant in Christ Copenator out!

Royal and regal is the color purple.
Highly sought after in the time of Christ.
Only the richest and most noble could come up with the price.
Now here in the 21st Century purple is bountiful and yet still as regal.
Don't you know that this Christmas
Acrostic is for you

Rhonda my purple princess?

Merry Christmas, happy anniversary and happy New Year to you from your hubby and friend forever more.
Copenator
servant in Christ.

Rhonda in the Welsh means "beloved" and that is what you are to me.
Your Scripture verse is found in Jeremiah.
"Your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Lord, God of hosts." (15:16).

==============================================================================
Beloved this is the review by PatrickB who responded in Acrostic form and just blew me away.

I am not a professional copy editor. These are my opinions as a reader and lover
> of words
>
> I really liked your acrostic poem.
>
> Rhonda seems to be a great subject
> Especially dressed in purple
> And with "Red rosy cheeks from winter's stinging kiss."
> Long it was, but warm, playful images abound,
> Like sitting around a fire with friends on a cold, winter night.
> Your acrostic effort, here, does give much hope to this popular style.
>
> Let me begin by talking about conventions.
> I enjoyed your use of winter imagery and Christmas reason-for-the-season reminders.
> "Karma" you claimed to start your poem,
> Energizing your snowy sentiments with the dogmatic powers of the cosmos.
> Do I even have to list the religious references here? Reason for the season indeed!
>
> You spend much time on a wedding in the middle.
> O, what a tribute to an important day; your wife must be so proud of your words!
> Understanding how important our loves are is such a universal theme!
> Rhonda must be really special indeed, to have such poetic words spring to your mind.
>
> As I settle into this review, I am reminded of the lovely playfulness of words.
> Can't we just do anything with them?
> Run them through normal or cast them around brazenly.
> Our only requirement to send them spinning is an unity of expression.
> Steve, you do this admirably by creating an atmosphere of past winter memories,
> Together with faith's mighty shroud, blanketing the festivities.
> I am in awe of how the collaboration did so well to summon me to snowy lands,
> Calling me out into a wonderful poetic wonderland.
>
> "Peppermint candy and cheese for the mice" is my favorite line!
> Opinions may vary, it's all subjective, but this is mine.
> Even adding it to the familiar "Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice"
> Means more lovely words for that playful arch-phrase.
>
> The above is a tribute-review to an excellent example of word-play. The white sheet is
> but our sand-box, and we dig and build and destroy at will. Well done, wordsmiths!
>
> Thank you so much for sharing your acrostic with me! They are fun
> aren't they?
>
> Regards,
> Patrick
>
> My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Go Noticed.
