apocalyptic theme

Bright Sunbeams

I came upon
a desert dune
beneath a cold
and eerie moon.

The windblown sand
had found its mark
and all the world
was bleak and stark.

The only hope
was far along
and etched in stone
and windblown song.

And in the air
that cools the night
I watched the moon
disperse its light.

Sand like diamonds,
glinting bright
had cast a spell,
a brilliant sight.

Soon the sun will
mark the morn
and scorch the land
that lay in scorn.

For on this day
the baking sun
will melt the skin
and make it run.

And all that was
the spawn of dreams
will burn beneath
the bright sunbeams.
