This is a poem about waves and the beach.
Blue and green ripples,
Cylindrical waters,
Forming white dresses
Of King Neptune’s daughters

Small foamy barrels
Of plunging white spray,
Green petals of water
Like young buds of May

The ripples are gum leaves
That peel like bananas,
The waters are horses
That jump at gymkhanas

They break like fine china
With white booming spray,
The ripples are sand dunes,
They’re dawn’s breaking day

The salt-smelling wish-chips
Are porcelain dolls,
They end at the castles
And pause at the lulls

The turquoise blue cordial
Kissed by the summer
Crashes on quiet
Like the beat of a drummer

Take me to a land
Of surging green swells,
Whitewater tinkling
Like the ringing of bells

Take me to a land
Of a rolling blue sea,
The ocean is booming,
The waters are free

The querulous winds
Howl over the waves,
The long rippling barrels
Are watery caves

The waters are sea snakes,
They buck and they rear,
But I’m always happy
When waters are near.
