My outlook on my recent past
Used to think it obscene...
to ponder being clean.
Wasting away, a fiend -
didn't know what free could mean.

I sit and wonder why
I spent my life so high -
wasting dreams by and by -
living a total lie.

Lost friends and precious time;
scheming a life of crime.
Wasting turns on a dime -
no reason to the rhyme.

Turning my thoughts around -
no longer I am bound.
Wasting away I found
a way to solid ground.
