"...filled with a lifelong affinity...she earned the President’s Medal…"
Once there was a charming, young egret,
On whom her parents bestowed the name Margaret.
This lucky bird dreamed up the paycheck she’d get,
And wound up South without much regret…

This land of blizzards and cold, pitch dark
Served as a break from her wetlands park.
And although this continent was icily stark,
She loved how the penguins there made their mark!

But upon arrival, she found a snow cave,
And stumbled into a horribly close shave;
A polar bear was preparing to bomb some knave,
A President Penguin that no assassin would save.

Into her cell phone from the place where she stood,
Margaret screamed as loud as she could,
Somewhere that polar bear couldn’t hear good,
But a faraway hill which our 911 would!

Then a SWAT Team of seals stormed the vicinity –
Margaret became filled with a lifelong affinity;
They sentenced the polar bear to prison for infinity,
And she earned the President’s Medal for proximity…

Margaret the Egret would surely prevail,
Having willed the spectacle of a kick in the tail,
Easing down the road of life’s empathic trail,
Seeing unity, pride, and the gore of betrayal!
