A poem with some explanation: it's true; find it at amateurbowlerstour.com.
Back in November of 2001, at Mel’s Southshore Bowl
In Alameda, on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th,
(As shown in the Results page on AmateurBowlersTour.com,
Bay Division), I bowled and finished in 10th place,
Earning a $62 dollar check –
But my peers in the popular tournament club
In Northern California doubted the feat,
And it raised questions about my integrity,
For it was, and is, a very difficult house for me to bowl in.
Below is a poem, describing the doubt experienced
By my peers and friends,
In believing this admittedly rare feat:

A bowling ball’s tossed,
Not trying as hard;
All hope is now lost,
And not playing my card.

I have the power
And the explosiveness,
To rule the hour,
If it weren’t for dryness!

These lanes remind us
Why we joined,
That this club grinds us,
Those foul words coined…

These can only display,
The truth in passion,
That wanting to play,
Is utter confusion!

So we may rest,
While fully aware,
We’re never the best,
But the energy is there!
