Some stories need to be told. Some legacies demand remembrance.
Let’s pull the wool over all of their eyes
Just some kids with some sheep and ambiguous cries
Hide a wolf in plain sight and soon all are accustom
Leave your daggers exposed and forthwith the rain rusts ’em
A shadow unmoving is the first they forget
Stay the word to take action ‘cos the time’s not come yet
All these days with the knowledge that we’re sat where we are
Knowing that knowing’s complacent and won’t go very far
Stories are made more than told and in silence will fade
A fate we refuse with the dues that we’ve paid
Belief that what comes is what we ourselves serve
Will carry us ‘till the day when all’s lost all but our nerve
And when that day comes, drags us out in the night
We’ll show the blood on our teeth as we bring them the fight
If the ends show the means they’ll soon find us the meanest
As we dance through the fists and the blades thrust between us
There’s not much point in a life if its song isn’t heard
So we’ll sing as we bleed, let them drink every word
All will hear of the ruse that we cloaked in our fleece
Ere’ our fangs come to bare and we give them our peace…
