This is a poem I wrote about my best friend in the world, the best girl I ever met.
It was truly meant to be, the two of us
Though many tried to stop it
There is no stopping that which God
Has given His endowment.
He sent you to me in that warm summer twilight
And I know He had a stake,
For I never could detail
Just what drove me that July night,
To your acquaintance make.
I never would’ve thought
A beauty like you
Could ever love a brute like me
But now we are as close
As a man and a woman could ever be.
Your eyes so joyously vibrant
Telling the soul to sing,
To tell the mind there is love above
And the heart her bells to ring.
All those who have gone before
And all those who will go after
Will spend their lives in search
Of a friend to call their own
They’ll never know friendship like ours.
