When Ash realizes his feelings for Misty he discovers an ancient mask with amazing power!
Before reading I like to highly stress that I do not own the following characters (Ash, Dawn, Brock, Pikachu, and Ekans). These characters are from Pokémon and are legally licensed under the Nintendo company. All legal right go to their proper owners. The following your about to read is a fanfic made with the help of Pokémon characters

Ash and friends continue on their journey through Sinnoh. With much needed action Ash partakes in a battle while passing through Edge Side City.

“Pikachu use thunderbolt,” shouted ash.

“pika-chuuuu” cried Pikachu, sending an electric attack against his opponent Ekans. Ekans received the shock and fell to the ground.

“No way,” cried ash’s opponent, who couldn’t believe his Ekans went down with that final blow. Brock, who was serving as referee, announced

“Ekans is no longer able to battle, Pikachu is the winner.”

“Already?” questioned Ash.

“Pi-Pikachu,” agreed Pikachu.

“Another win for Ash,” cheered Dawn.

“oh well,” continued Ash, but then Ash’s stomach let out a… Growl!

“Heh guess all that battling made me hungry,” explained Ash. The group then head over to the towns Pokémon Center to have lunch.

“Ahh that feels better,” concluded Ash.

"Heh, guess that’s Ash for you,” said Dawn to her Piplub. As Ash continued to eat his lunch, he noticed a couple enjoying a lunch together as well. Although Ash’s stomach was nearly full of food, unfortunately his heart felt empty inside because he then was reminded of something that was missing in his life. Than Ash had an idea spark inside, he swallowed his last bite stood up and proclaimed,

“Ok I’m done eating and I’m heading out because I got something to do, so I’ll be back.”

“Wha..?” puzzled Brock and Dawn.

Dawn then yelled, "Wait Ash, where are you going?" but he left out the door so fast he didn’t catch her message. Dawn turned to Brock and asked,

“Where do you think he’s going?”

“Beats me,” says Brock.

Turning our attention over to Ash, he quickly searched for a computer phone, a fair distance away from the Pokémon Center. He finally chose one near a beach, and began to dial a number. Pikachu who has stowed away on ash’s back leapt down and asked,

“Pika-be pika- chu,”

Ash then turned to Pikachu and said

“I’m making a call to someone a very important friend that I should have called a long time ago.”

Pikachu still puzzled, still trying to guess who ash is calling, ash then finished dialing his number and waited for an answer on the other side.

Meanwhile in a far, far, away yet familiar region of Kanto in Cerulean City of the Cerulean City Gym was a familiar girl of great importance to Ash is playing with her aquatic pokémon. That’s right that girl is Misty! She alone has been tending to the Cerulean City Gym for some time while her three sisters decided to go out on their never ending trips. Though Misty never wanted to keep watch over the gym, she doesn’t know things were about to get better. Today she was blessed for no new challengers were coming in today, giving her a day off. She drifted through the water of the indoor pool allowing her pokemon to have some time to themselves. When what to her drifting ears should she her, is an electronic voice ringing over the speaker going,

“Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, phone call, phone call!” echoing the gym.

The disturbed Misty unwilling swam to the side of the pool and quickly grabbed a towel and tensely began to dry herself. Misty mumbled

“ohh, now who would be calling?”

She quickly slipped into a robe she had off to the side to cover her bathing suit and started sprinting to the phone.

She yelled “yeah I hear you I’m coming,”

she snatched her phone at the computer screen and in her frustrated tone groaned,

“This is the Cerulean City Gym, Misty speaking.”

The screen to the computer phone then lit up and revealed Ash Ketchum.

“Hi Misty, it’s Ash.”

In a single moment Misty came to her senses and became speechless. The sensation of Ash's words lifted Misty's frustration. The sound of her very best friend touched her heart.

“Misty, are you ok?” questioned Ash.

Misty, feeling more rejoiced then answered,

“Ash, is it really you?”

hoping that what she is hearing is really happening and not in her head.

“Yes it’s me the one and only,” explained Ash

“it has been a while hasn’t it?”

“Yes it has,” cried Misty,

shedding a tear that soon drenched the key board. Ash only watched in confusion.

“Misty... are you really ok?” wondered ash.

”Oh, I’m fine Ash, really I am, it’s just it’s been so long that I’ve missed you so much,”

confessed misty trying her best to keep from crying.

“Please Misty, don’t be like that,” pleaded Ash.

“It’s that same reason that gave me the courage to call, just to tell you how much I miss you more than anything else and now wish we could be together again."

“Ash, do you really mean that?” asked Misty.

“I do,” admitted Ash,

“Pika-be,” butted in Pikachu.

“Oh right, I almost forgot I Have a good friend of ours here too,” announced Ash.

Pikachu leapt to the front of the screen and cheered,

“Pik-a.”

“Hi Pikachu,” greeted Misty.

“As you can see Pikachu misses you as much as I do,” commented Ash.

“I can see that,” said Misty.

“I’m sorry if I bothered you, but I just couldn’t stop thinking about you and I just had to call,” explained Ash.

“It’s ok, in fact you even made my day,” thanked Misty.

Misty's kind words echoed through Ash’s mind. Unfortunately he then realized the sun began to set, then remembered he left his friends without an explanation of what he was doing and realized and he needed to return to the Pokémon Center.

“Aaaa, Misty,” peeped Ash,

“Yes Ash,” answered Misty.

“As much as I want to keep talking to you I’m afraid I have a time limit, you see I called without telling anyone where I was going,” shrugged Ash.

“Ok, but will you be able to talk for another minute now wont you?” requested Misty.

“For you, three minutes,” bargained Ash.

“Pika,” giggled Pikachu.

Watching the romance between Ash and Misty.

“So how are things at the gym?” asked Ash.

“Oh, not too exciting,” exhaled Misty,

“Not too many great Pokémon trainers come that are as strong as you,” complimented Misty.

“Aww shucks Misty, that’s awfully sweet of you, but to be honest Pokémon battles have been escaping my interest lately, they aren’t as enjoyable as I remember,” complained Ash.

“What do you mean Ash?” questioned Misty, looking a bit worried.

“I mean sure I get a couple trainers who have killer strategies and new Pokémon I’ve never seen, and I caught new pokémon myself, but I’m kinda bored of the same routine really,” complained Ash.

“How I wish that something new would happen.., you know maybe I should try giving Pokémon contest another try”.

“Contest battles? Hmmmmm, well I guess it will be different,” thought Misty.

“Nah, who am I kidding, I don’t have that much style and besides I am made for the Pokémon battles a lot more,” shifted Ash.

“Well whatever you decide to do, I know you will give it your best and keep on winning,” encouraged Misty,

“Thank you misty,” thanked Ash.

"You're welcome" replied Misty.

He then brought his hand up to the camera screen. On Misty's end it looks as if Ash was holding his hand up. Misty mirrored Ash's action and held her hand up as well until it looked like they were making hand contact on both sides. The couple treasured the moment for a while, until ash broke the silence,

“Well Misty I’m afraid I have to be going now, talk to you again soon?” asked Ash.

“I’ll count the minutes until you call back,” replied Misty.

“Good bye Misty, my mermaid,” spoke Ash.

Misty echoed “Good bye Ash, my pokémon master.”

Misty watched the screen go dark and then hung up. Turning around gently, she folded her hands, closed her eyes, and said,

"now I know that he really does feel for me, thank you."
