A contemplation
Words –
Falling into ecstasy,
entropy and element.
For an eternity I waited,
and now I’m here –
it is you
that brought me home.

The boulder shall one day
become a grain of sand,
the ripple of a puddle
rejoin the wave upon the sea.
In my time I might see one,
but I will not live for both.

What legacy shall I leave?
And how will they know me
in ages long from here?

My body marches on to dust.
My projects rot, my tools will rust,
and no memory shall remain
of this life, these dreams.

Ages hence, as mountains
return to grains upon the shore –
part of me shall be here with you –
Words –
and nothing more.
