Where are they going
Where have they been
Those planes overhead
Half full of people
The other half sheeple
Some going where they wish
Others going where they must
While I stand here looking up
Wondering, pondering, motionless
How does it feel for them to move
While sitting so perfectly still
Does the speed of flight
Change more than their perspective
Or are they looking down at me
Saying the opposite of what I am confessing
Do they even know that I am here
And if so, what are the implications
If not, what are the ramifications
How does it feel for them to risk it all
In the name of convenience and hope
So badly they must want to get
Where it is they are going
Even more, they must want to get away
From where it is they are leaving
Those planes overhead
All heading to different points
Places that I am unfamiliar with
Places that I am sure
That I could never allow myself to go
Does fear, like the fear that I possess
Play any part in their decision
To put themselves so high above
Hurtling by at insanely dangerous speeds
Do they think of what they would do
If the catastrophic nature
Of what could happen came true
Would they die an instant death
Or would they fall to the very depths
Experiencing each moment of the way down
Would their God of choice save them
Or would the god of chance crucify them
Would they get a chance to say a prayer
A wish for all things to be different
And a realization that it will never be
That instant where those two concepts
Intersect by itself would probably be
Enough to kill most rationale people
Such risks, of both flight and falling
Is too much if you were to ask me
So from here, I will continue looking up
Those planes overhead
Are full of people, souls, meat and bone
That are doing something that I
Have not the strength
I hope that they get where it is they are going
And away from that which they are leaving
I will just remain here, looking up…
