A short, but weird poem about my own heart on the ground at my feet.

Out of my chest
Such a glorious mess
My heart to the ground
Not a single sound
No warning to be had
No decision to be discussed
It simply had enough
It leapt from my chest
It tore through my flesh
Without an ounce of regret
All that the pain we shared
Was forever impaired
Certainly it knew that we both
Would face certain doom
Nonetheless
It did what it did
Long enough did I live
To see it beating at my feet
Screaming, you should see
The look upon your face
Such a beautiful waste
You should have tried like I
You should have fought for life
I am no longer your heart
No longer will I start
No longer will I give
Never again will you see the sun
Under the ground you will waste
Such an emotional case
That will not contain
The very heart that use to
Beat on your behalf
My heart to the ground
At my feet, surreal the end does seem
Truth be known as the darkness grows
Increasingly I am very much afraid
Of what comes next or lack thereof
Existence it turns out
Is much more than a beating heart
And any associative spark…
