"In the beginning, God."

In the beginning,
God made light and it was good.
This light inside me shrouds like a hood.
Protected in His warmth,
all is good.

In the beginning,
God made animals.
Seafarers, land dwellers, for us;
to domesticate and make most affable.
The pets in my life have brought such joy,
more precious and valuable than the most costly toy.

In the beginning,
God made Eve,
Adam was there, later came Steve.
Straight or gay, bi or trans;
I love everyone,
no matter their stance.

In the middle,
God made me,
as silly and vile as one can be.
I'll spend my time on this ball of dust,
til one day He calls me to His bust.

In the middle,
God made hope,
to guide me thru the end of my rope.
Tragedies befall, stress overwhelms;
but Lord God Almighty steadies my realm.

In the end
God made all,
the blade, the speck, the wild bird's call.
What else to say? Nothing new to do.
In the beginning, middle, or end; God reigns true.

January 2013 Prompt
Instead of New Year's resolutions, I like to pick a Bible passage I need to add to my life. I started years ago using the first four words of the Bible, "In the beginning God." If something happened in my life (good or bad) I took it to Him first. I was redeemed (bought back out of sin) by the blood of Christ. I no longer belong to myself, but my Savior. Write a poem about the first four words of the Bible. "In the beginning God."
