PTSD stare
The Stare

He was a young man full of patriotism
He was sure he had the wisdom

Volunteering was almost unheard of
This young man had a sense of love

Following in his father’s footstep
He wore the uniform with respect

He said long goodbye at the airport
With total love and family support

There was so much love for him to give
Big beautiful blue eyes wanted to live

A life full of hope lived in his eyes
When he touched down and realized

This place was horrible and frightening
The cries of lost buddies lying dying

The 13 months past and he came back alive
His eyes told the story of how he survived

This young heart saw too much to rationalize
Instead he brought back a face with dead eyes
