Sad and dismayed, then feeling reborn because of innocence - a prose poem.
I know immense sorrow, tragic longing,
And excruciating pain -
I've known terrible cruelty and inexplicable punishment;
But the knowledge I hope to share
And cannot possibly attain
Through living and seeing life
At any and every level
Is the wisdom to understand and exonerate
People.
Their careless whims and reckless truths
Just further rile my foolish and unjust heart,
And bring ceaseless and undue damage
To my forgotten soul.
Yet my spirit stands renewed to face
Another charmed and delightfully joyful
And miraculous day.
Seeing children and adults
In a different eye,
I now judge the totality
Of humanity
From the glowing viewpoint
Of an opportune and sacred child.
