A poem about living in the moment, inspired by a roadtrip i took across america
Soon
Only
headlights search the desert highway

But the sun
Now ripe and falling
peach bruised and half-eaten-
tossed thousand miles back

Took to sky
Returning itself
Under
This brimming, fiery earth-
The belly of those who rest in content

But should we not forget that we too
Like all men
Took a bite from life
And with full mouths of April
Harvest the moon that ends today and begins some tomorrow

And down veiled roads behind
We
Like all men
are moving forward
Born knowing
Born forgetting
the way back

Now
only headlights search the desert highway
