A silly poem for The Humorous Poetry Contest
Cab Ride

From a small town I did travel
For a week in the Big Apple

We flew for hours, then we landed
I hailed a cab, single-handed

The smell was fierce, but I climbed in
My driver was Osama’s twin

Down the street, a horn was beeping
To the curb, pedestrians leaping

Over the bridge, we hit eighty-nine
Why did they bother painting lines?

To the floor, I pushed my feet
Between my cheeks, I squeezed the seat

Through a light, then a skid
I held the handle, crouched and hid

Inches from a big red truck
My driver yelled, "You stupid *#$%#!"

I missed my kids, I missed my wife
To worn-out brakes, I owed my life
