Entry for lighthouse poetry contest
How do I get there to the other side?
Someone is waiting dare I swallow some pride.
The lame poor and outcase are falling astray,
and they're seeking a leader who will save the day.

Peter once a denier of what was sacred and dear,
Now offers forgiveness and a welcoming ear.
For a royal priesthood, a bridge being built,
From the sacred to secular place of no guilt.

The sick and dying in hospitals await good news,
I go there for Jesus celebrating God's rule.
As a part of Christ's body I open my heart,
Sharing God's word and prayer is a great place to start.

To another world where prisoners are enslaved,
I go there for Jesus for a captive to free and save,
As a part of Christ's body I open my hand,
I share God truth and gift of an awesome plan.

I go to the poor who are needy and homeless,
I go there for Jesus celebrating God will bless.
As a part of Christ's body, I share my feet
going where God wants resources replete.

To the children says Jesus bring them to me,
I go there for Jesus celebrating love that is free.
As a part of Christ's body I offer my eyes
so others might show a child the wrong from the right.

To the world, I say that God has offered a bridge
I go there for Jesus so all men might live.
As a part of Christ's body, I offer my brain
Once you know God one can not be the same.

For a Royal Priesthood I offer this food for thought,
Know the way to Jesus and be good as you ought.
Others are waiting on the other side,
looking for a blessing may in you they confide.
