A poem about the lure of settling down with the snow. Written for Feb Short Shorts
I ski through the winter of life,
avoiding the thin ice of disappointment.
Passing the barren land
with white of failure all around,
I hurtle down the path
in search of an avenue
where pine trees are abound.
Wrapped in the muffler of hope,
warmed by the coat of love,
I move along the difficult slopes.
Befriending the bitter wind,
even though it tears my eyes,
I whistle to the tune of blizzard.

Many a times the snow calls,
beguiling me to give up and settle,
promising me blanket of ice
to whittle away the numbness of heart,
but waving away its promises,
I tumble down the meandering path.
Laughter of my family ahead my beacon,
their cheers my inspiration.
Faster, faster I move,
racing against the passing time,
enjoying even the winter of life.
