Explaining my job to kids.
It is a pleasure to talk with you children,
and to explain as a scout what I do.
Michigan football is loved in Ann Arbor,
and as a motto we all say, Go Blue.

I as a scout go to high schools all over,
and look for talent on the football teams.
I of course look for exceptional players;
it can be more difficult than it seems.

One thing I look for is throwing the football;
a quarterback is sometimes what we need.
Yet there are other scouts doing what I do--
because of that I don’t always succeed.

Running is something important in football;
I’ve seen you kids run out on the playground.
Often there is a most talented runner;
word of a fast running back gets around.

As a scout I go back with information;
I sit with others and we then decide.
We send out offers to some football players--
if they accept, then it’s Michigan pride.

It was a pleasure to talk with you children;
I hope my little talk enlightened you.
Always remember to cheer for the home team,
but when the other team runs on, don’t boo.
