Shakespearean sonnet written in iambic pentameter.
How can the world be so cruel to someone
So dear and kind, trying to find her place?
The pain from wanting cannot be undone,
There is no longer a smile on her face.
Tired soles, scarce food to eat.  Friends—she has nil.
When she tries to dream, tears fill up her eyes,
There is barely enough to pay the bills,
Why should she dream?—dreams are life’s little lies.
With no help in this world, what can she do—
Two little ones to feed, to clothe, and raise.
No hope left, she vows to try something new,
Kneeling down, hands clasped.  Silently, she prays,
“Lord, I’m lost.  Please help.  Help me find my way.
I need your love, shine light on me today.”
