As time goes by I think of what life was. What could I have changed to make it better?
The years have slowly passed on by
leaving me so far behind,
there’s no time for playing catch-up,
it’s too much for my mind.

My little world is still revolving
each day the sun does rise,
and thoughts go back to another time,
when life was a big surprise.

I never knew what lay ahead,
nor the pitfalls on my track,
I simply took the easy way
and never once looked back.

But I wonder where I’d be right now
if I had turned another way,
would I be writing of my twilight time
or just surviving one more day?

But what’s the use of worry now,
the shades are almost drawn,
and I am quite contented
I still admire each morn.

Today is all there is, I know,
Yesterday’s been and gone,
tomorrow is still a mystery,
So I’ll keep living on.

Who knows what joy is still to come,
what friends I’ve yet to meet,
what gifts from nature are right there,
in my suburban street.

It matters not what might have been,
what loves were lost, or won,
what matters most is how I greet
tomorrows rising sun.
