The pain of being a war veteran.
The scar in our hearts

By: Maddy

I didn’t know the pain I would bear

Or the pain my loved ones beared

But I could only hope,

That I could see them again.

And then the gun fired

Dozens of soldiers lay on the ground,

To lay in the poppies and never be found

They fought for their country

To their  best of their ability

And then the gun fired

I was shot

My vision was blurred

I had to fight through this

I had to

And then the gun fired

I was now sure

I wasn’t coming back up

But I could only think of my family

And the scar in their hearts
