A tricky, shorter poem about experience, each other, friendship and help in my weird way.

-Back To When-

Back to when
Then again
Let us remain
Excruciating
Is this pain
Tighten the screws
Hammer the nails
Feel it all
Every damn ounce
There is no
Better teacher
Than experience
Thus reciprocation
Via interpretation
You don’t gotta
Stand in the flames
To feel the burn
You can take another’s
Words and ideas
Trust what strangers say
Madmen are often right
Even when it seems
They are all to wrong
Back to when
Easy to defend
The past
What we miss
Most of all
Was always better
The present
Is often a struggle
What we survived
Is no longer hard
What we are
In the process of enduring
Is damn near impossible
It helps to have others
Those in which
You can come to rely
They won’t let you down
Symbiotic is that relationship
When they reach their own
Molehills turned mountains
They will call upon you
They will cry out your name
Pleading for relief
From what they must face
You will help
Lemmings always stand
At the edge of the same cliff
They always jump
In groups no less than a few
Back to when
Life
Will getter better friends
But before it does
Or as it does
It will be
All out hell first
Our afflictions
Turned derelictions
Leading us in ways
Of undesired change
All of it to be faced
Each loss is a gain
But each gain
Is a step towards
What will hurt you next
There is no version of perfect
Just a series of conflicts
A persistence of struggle
Until one darker day
What causes you to struggle
Just out right stops
Quits
On that day friends
Fear nothing of the end
Because you’ll be dead
In your heaven or
Another’s hell
You probably be saying
With a sense of malaise
Back to when…
