A man walking along a road most traveled hears a voice asking for his help.

-Push Me-

The other day
Quite gay
I was on my way
Where
How could you care
I was about halfway
From someplace I’ve been
And somewhere I was going
But then
I heard a man’s voice
Whispering out of view
Calling me with his truth
I stopped for far too long
Instead of continuation
Curiosity crept in
Holding me in place
Time in many ways ceased
Further driving me
To be quite curious
I replied to the man
What is it that is wrong
There was no reply
At least not one I’ll admit
I further persisted
And thus so did he
Come closer he asked
A dozen feet to the left
Off the side of the road
That you are traveling on
At the edge of nothing
That any of us
Are comfortable with
That is where I am
Where you need to come
A fool for every idea
I followed his words
There
To the edge of nothing
He was standing alone
His feet halfway over
His body leaning back
Just enough to keep him
From forever falling down
I said to the man
Kind sir of so few words
Is this predicament yours
Did you put yourself here
At the edge of nothing
He nodded yes
Then he hung his head low
Shame poured from his face
But
Fear was no place exposed
What if
Filled my empty head
But it was assumption
That would become king
What can I help you with
What do you need from me
If saving is not what you wish
By convincing or interference
Then what
What do you need
Why did you call me here
Off the road most travelled
Why am I here with you
A dozen feet off the path
That I am meant to walk
He raised his head
For all but a second
And then he asked
Push me…
