A poem I wrote about the sweet sound of silence
In all of my years I never could hear
That eerie sound that hurts one's ear

Do you know what I mean, could you be so dense?
I speak of that noise, it's call silence

It pokes you, it prods you, it won't go away
So let me tell you what happened one day

It was August 14th and I was home all alone
Just me and my thoughts until *Ring!* went my phone

"Hello, hello?" who's calling my phone?
Not one sound, not even the tone

So I hung up and returned to my thoughts
No, no, I should think not!

I realized, "Oh no!" I have no thoughts
I tried and tried but only confusion was wrought

I wept and I wept until a thought came to be
Perhaps this wasn't such a bad omen for me

In fact it was a blessing don't you see?
No more noise meant I was finally free

So here I sit in utter bliss
For the only sound I hear is called silence
