This is the second chapter for my book "The Prophecy"
Cole sat at the long, solid, mahogany, dinner table in his family's home. Across from him, on one end of the table, was his father. His mother and brothers sat along the edge of the table. Everyone was silent until his mother began to speak,

"How is everything going?" Her voice was soft and gentle, black hair with hints of gray hiding her face as she looked up at her husband.

"More demons are heading up each night; the strike will be soon, they are ready to fight for their freedom and land again. The humans need to be exterminated, and our people are ready to do so. They are ready my love." His voice boomed across the halls as he spoke, strong and powerful, the voice of a king. Cole looked down at his food, untouched.

"When can we join the war father?" Micah, his younger brother, spoke up.

"Soon my son, then you will have your chance to kill, just be patient."

"Is killing the humans the only way in your mind father? Cole raised his voice as he slammed his fork down to the table, "There has to be another way."

"Never forget son what they did to our family, what they did to our people, and why you live in this hell hole." His voice began to rise until the room shook.

"I will never forget, but this war will be the end of you father, don't forget humans are not the only threat out there."

"Cole." His mother looked up at him and whispered. He placed his utensils down and stood up, the chair cutting the silence in the room. He left the room quickly, coming to a halt at the window in their red painted hallways. His fist pressed against the window as he stared out at the scene. Fire lit the ground, demons walked the streets, bone thin, begging passers for food, water, and shelter. He leaned in forehead to the cool window,

"There has to be another way, there has to be, I will find it and I will do whatever it takes to save my people." The future demon king stepped away from the window and began walking back to his family to prepare for the journey to the surface.
