a tomboy just wants to be herself
I am a Girl

I am a girl, so what does that mean?
Should my hair be in ribbons and curls?
Most of the time I’m not even clean
And I don't like to play with the girls.

Mom would like me to wear a pink dress
Along with a pretty white hat.
But that’s not for me, I must confess
Just give me a ball and a bat.

I like to climb trees and play in the dirt
I don’t care 'bout the bruise on my knee.
What I want to wear are jeans and t-shirts
So please just let me be me.
