It is the fear that holds one back. It is the emptiness that eventually drowns people.

Whispers

I whisper in the whisperers ear

he whispers back

so only I can hear

he hovers over me

like a cage

he tells me truth

he tells me lies

he gives me hope

and faith

but then

he makes it disappear

he is a magician

an evil sorcerer

he holds my heart

he controls my life

I tell on him and plea

but everyone around me

can not see

he is there

at my side

no one sees

his black coat

that curves with his hunch

his jeans that are pitch

as an unlighted hole

his raven hair that lays

slightly in his eyes

his black eyes

cold

as winter storms

his lips that creep back

in an evil smile

his heart that seems silent

and still

how can anyone not see
this evil man next to me
