Finding solitude on life's midway. (Form: Triquain Swirl)
Respite

Popcorned air
seems to lift my scarred chair,
swaying to a garish Midway beat,
far above my daily cares and oppressive heat.
My world dissolves in a blur of light,
an island of delight,
of respite.
Then, my illusion ends
as once more reality transcends,
its interminable cacophony once more
lets sadness, tears, laughter, and joys roar.
I embrace all of it,
for respite
is not lost; it is found,
as life's wheel travels once more around
exclaiming its journey into a dark unknown.
Armed with assurance that I have grown.
I welcome, without care,
popcorned air.
