A twisted little poem about those of us who swim and those of us who sink.

-Sleepless Solitude-

In a box
Confined
Around the clock
Sleepless solitude
Filling your head
Burdening your chest
The same question
You do lament
Is this it
Your life
Thus your strife
Many can relate
But many is but a few
In an endless parade
Of infinitely more
Sadly your case
Goes unnoticed
By those precious
Those within grace
They are blind
Knowing nothing
Of your suffering
They only come here
When drawn from the light
They would never step
Into total darkness
Unless of course
You somehow
Managed to bring them
Managed to fool them
Into believing
That you need help
That you need saving
But we both know
Via relation
Through confinement
That regardless
Of our plight
That saving
Is what we need
Least of all
Sleepless solitude
Destined
Born into existence
Our life
Has meaning
Just not conventional
But rather provincial
A person of the people
Limited idealism
Spread ever thin
Semi-relatable madness
Understandable sadness
They only want a taste
A bit
Just so that they
Can feel alive
Just so that they
Can feel more
Their hope is God
Their faith is master
People like you
Like us
Those so confined
By all that has been
And all that we are
Oddities in an ocean
Of unquestionable similarities
Some may tread
Some may sink
But at one point
Or another
All must swim
All must find an oasis
A place to rest
Finding a measure of solace
Expressed by a person
That has been sinking
Since the very beginning
In a box
Confined
Around the clock
Sleepless solitude
Filling your head
Burdening your chest
The same question
You do lament
Is this it
The answer
If there could be one
Should be
Will it come to matter
But of course
That is not the answer
But just another question
One like all others
To be considered
By those of us
Few in number
Unlike those swimming
Some may tread
Some may sink
But at one point
Or another
All must swim
All must find an oasis
A place to rest
Finding a measure of solace
In a world of nonsense
We are the few
Those so inclined
By our life and our time
While they swim
We further sink
Such depth brings truth
A truth that many would
Do anything to know…
