The Snowflake Method  : Write a one-paragraph summary of each key character's personal storyline.

Paragraphs of each character’s personal story line..

Emma

However, when the kids attended school and Everett work, she belonged to the world. Emma was a woman that spent her mornings playing bridge with her friends, shopping at the local mall, and everyone knew Emma. She spent Sundays serving at the homeless shelter soup kitchen. She was happy having a life outside of her family. Her evenings belonged to her family. The loss of income, moving to an isolated area, and having no close friends was just too much for her. She hanged herself on the clothes line that she placed her family’s clothes to dry every Friday.

Sarah

Sarah begins the family line of witches. She finds the coven after being in an abusive home, separated from her husband, and pregnant. She becomes one of the coven’s council members. She delivers her daughter Matilda in a witch’s ritual. He live ends tragically at the hands of her granddaughter.

J.J.

James Johnson Jr. was Jake’s best friend. His heart went out to young Sarah. Though he was so much older, he fell in love with her. He befriended her when she was in such pain. He thought that he was rescuing her by taking her away and marring her. However, they were found by their fathers. Sarah promises not to see J.J. again in order to stop her brothers from beating him. It is not known if J.J. ever finds out that he was a father.

James

Though James is only mentioned when Sarah and J.J. has married, he makes a big impact on the story. He is a pastor, and doesn’t believing in mixed couples. He doesn’t want his black son married to a white woman from a bad family.

Willow

There isn’t much said so far in my thought pattern about Willow’s back story. Thinking about the possibilities, creates a blank slate for the character. I want to believe that she is the high priestess of the coven because she inherited the land from her mother who was a witch who practiced alone in secret. Willow decides to allow others to know what she is. She opens her home land to others who believed the same. One by one women found their way to her. Some were witches who were afraid to practice their craft alone. Others were homeless and found refuge there then decided to follow Willow’s beliefs. She had no idea that one born there would take her life and her coven.

Anna

Anna is the first to come to live on Willow’s land. Willow taught her about witchcraft, Anna learned from the stories about Willow’s mother, and Anna was taught the craft by Willow for a year to be counted a witch. While learning under Willow, Anna suckled her two month son from the tits of animals. She believed that this would make him have a bond with the animals sharing their powers. As the coven grew, Anna was the first of Willow’s council. She also brought Sarah into the coven. Her son and Sarah’s coven born daughter are untiled as mates by ritual performed by Willow among the birch trees. She is Mary and Mercy’s grandmother. She was out of the coven working in the fields when the coven burned.

Matilda

Sarah was the first woman to give birth in the coven. Matilda was born, married, and gave birth to her own twin daughters in rituals inside the ash circle among the Birch trees. When her daughters were about three, she and Damion leave the coven following Rev. Dallas and his teaching of Christianity. She results back to casting a spell to protect her daughter Mary from the other daughter Mercy.

Damion

Damion was two months old when Anna moved in with Willow. When Anna decided to practice witchcraft, Damion was nursed by animals to be to gain their bond with nature. She believed that Damion would have the power to communicate with animals and their power to connect with the Earth as the animals do. Damion is only mentioned in the story as Anna’s son, Matilda’s husband, and in a conversation with his daughters right before they find out about their power. He impregnated five women during the marriage ritual between him and Matilda.

Rev. Dallas

His name was Christian Rayvon Wright, and his name was irony because he had never been in the state of Texas in his life. He grew up on a farm in the Appalachian Mountains. He has one sister that his parents allowed him to name his sister. He named her after a cow that he helped deliver a child, Bessie. He didn’t pick up the nick name until he was given the cowboy hat. He lives in the church.

Mary

She is Matilda’s oldest twin. She was born minutes before her sister Mercy. Mary decides to follow religion, but Mercy finds a hunger for her power. She pleads with Mercy not to follow the information trail found in the box from the basement. Mary will not allow witches to live.

Mercy

Mercy was always the more dominate of the twins. She knew how to get what she wants with her charms. She decides to go back to the coven. There she kills Willow, takes over the coven, and lies to the coven council telling them that Willow gave her the rule of the community.
