Breaking the news of adoption after 19 years.

I was lost until she came.
An angel sent to save me.
I was broken all apart.
Sadness made me crazy.

Her eyes, blue like heaven,
whereof I'm sure she came.
I focused on the task
of giving her a name.

As I struggled to exist,
it was all I had to give
and I swore to provide
a place for us to live.

She only lived to love.
She was so sweet and kind.
Time turned the pages.
She had an adult mind.

Now, she had some questions.
Things she needs to know.
The life she thought she knew,
will shatter with the blow.

Love that saved me from myself,
was what I feared to lose,
when I divulged the secret,
deeply covered in a ruse.

Summoning the courage,
to Bless and grieve her heart,
I took breath more deeply,
preparing for this part.

Lovely daughter, please just know,
I wouldn't bring you pain.
Unless, at the same time,
something wonderful you'd gain.

I know, you thought you were the one
and only girl for me.
But now, know that before you,
one other came to be.

To save her from the poverty
and life she would have known,
a lovely couple took her,
and raised her as their own.

You have an older sister.
You're not the only one.
And now, she wants to speak to you.
She's waiting on the phone.
