How on earth
Could it have passed
That sin and fear
Were banished fast

How on earth
Could David's line
Have brought forth Gold
To save mankind

How on earth
Could Virgin bride
So carry full
With God's own Pride

How on earth
Could carpenter's Boy
Craft such a gift
Of heavenly joy

How on earth
Could God's Son brave
Death on the cross
Our souls to save

So through these days
of holiday mirth
Take time to ponder
