How far can you pull a heart string?

You make it so hard to believe that it's true
After how ever long it's been since I've heard from you
You promise to call so that we can spend time
But it's always on your terms and never on mine

What is it about you that makes me come back
Your compliments, your charm, for that you have a knack
Is your interest in me real, or is this part of your illusion
And I succumb to this spell, it's all part of the delusion

Are you pushing me to see when my patience will snap
Let me tell you right now, I don't take too much crap
Do you think I'm so nice, that I'm just a door mat
If so then believe me, I'm angry in two seconds flat

I'm not that stupid and I did come to realize
Maybe you're just using me, you're just one of those guys
But can I stop myself from falling down that hole
Or will I let you continue till you've reached your goal

Like the rubber of a band my heart is made
It will stretch and contract which makes me afraid
But like a moth to a flame, I get burned every time
Because to a player like you, I'm a dozen for a dime
