Promises should always be given carefully
Promises

Promises are made to prevent all wars, to make the peace prevail,
But in the end the bombs will fall, those promises always fail.

Promises are given on New Year’s Eve, when resolutions fill the land,
But these are lost in a breath of time, like water over sand.

Promises are made in our wedding vows, to love and keep forever,
But vows are shed and promises broken, and love we often sever.

Promises, like unpaid debts, will torment our days and nights,
They create pain and agony, and lead to ugly fights.

Promises made in haste or anger, will lead to family strife,
They make us cry and make us weep, and ruin our daily life.

Promises given and not fulfilled, can ruin a child’s delight,
And leave them weeping in the dark, on a lonely sleepless night.

But promises made and promises kept, will lead to joy and cheer,
They wipe away our fears and doubt, and keep our family near.
