Wrote a poem for a friend who is in some pain after a car accident.
Shipwreck

Sometimes I wince, the throbbing will not cease.
Self pity fills my heart and overflows
my mouth. The pain inside me grows and goes
astray, in those it touches leaves a piece.

For though they know not of the pain I feel,
a nasty word, impatient sigh may lodge
within their hearts, which did not know to dodge.
The ripples of my sorrow, gladness steals.

But nature tells that tides must flow both ways
and while my ripples of unease spread out
if I can stop and breathe, there is no doubt
I'll see a drifting branch of better days.

Though stormy waves may cast a ship adrift
On just such waves, I'll find my spirits lift.

For those into forms and such, it's a sonnet. abba cddc effe gg
