Reflections on a life at sea
Once I was a pirate,

Sailing the seas.

I did what I want.

Whatever I please.

I fought in battles.

I was chased to no end.

Trust in no one.

Not even a good friend.

Neither the sword, nor bullet,

What had taken me down.

It was the eyes of a maiden,

In a form fitting gown.

The ocean and its power,

Could never compare.

To the golden waves,

Of her flowing hair.

Now my last voyage.

And thoughts of her love.

Will serve to guide me,

Through the storm above.

Land-ho! It's our shore.

But this storm has a plan,

To ground us on rocks,

With a Death for each man.

Heave to!

Turn her fast to starboard!

Trim the sails!

We can make the harbor!

Then the storm calmed.

And I went to my knees.

It had to be respect,

We had shown to the seas.

As we tied to the pier,

And I saw with a glance,

The ocean behind me,

Had given us a chance.

I see her standing,

And this weathered salt could see,

After this harsh life,

I can finally be free.

I now have a son.

My life became his passion.

Now a pirate at sea.

It was truly our fashion.

Fair winds, my son,

And following seas.

Respect the ocean,

And you shall be pleased.
