About battles with addiction.And finally winning it!
10/7/14-10/10/14

Phoenix
________

Deign to see past
the fast fading lie,
sequined portrayal
of the latest illusion,
haunting , mesmerizing , darkening.
Gone.

One more day,
The 'trip' you might take.
Later, then sooner,
all faces change :

in and out of fever dreams.
But never, quite,
a souls journey ,
home.
But never, quiet ,
a hearts journey ,
home.

Another shot , 'nother pill ,
one more drink.
"I don't have problem!
I didn't do it , yesterday!"

Circling,circling ,
inexorable spiral.
Distrusting your eyes ,
Blind , lost , but "fine."

  *          *            *

Sea , apoplectic ,
rages , tsunamic.
A storm perishes,
within ;

Inchoate , fetal , awakening :
sleeping , ageless
archetypes ,
beneath....

Leap and bound ,
around the boundaries ,
a skyward
ascension ;

Billowing , buffeted , battered ;
shadow sloughing skin.
Redemption.

From ashes ,
a feathery conflagration ,
war-scarred ,
is reborn.
