When I remember the Army I think of all those lines, hurry up and wait.

Army Blues

I remember the Army as a young man.
All the lines and the waiting back then.
Yes sir, no sir, then you stand at ease.
Come to attention remember to please.

Pulling kitchen police in the mess hall.
Dinning room orderly wasn't my call.
I volunteered for the pots and pans job.
I did my best to keep up and stay on top.

Between meals I had plenty food to eat.
I never went hungry or thirsty during KP.
I served pulling guard duty on the post.
I used a rifle to carry around like most.

I'd walk around a certain area on guard.
Without any ammo to shoot it was hard.
I spent two years serving in the Army.
Kentucky, to Texas, Georgia and home.
