“This is so confusing,” Brooke said. “I don’t understand how this could possibly happen.” She spent all day on the Internet trying to figure out this tough question her teacher asked her that day at school. When the teacher asked Brooke the question, she began to sweat. Scared of what other people would say when she gave her answer, she decided to sit quietly. The teacher told Brooke to go home and think about what her answer was going to be and then come back the next day to give her the answer. Brooke had not found her place in the school yet. She did not know where she fit in. She was scared to answer the question because she was scared it would push her to one of the two groups. Brooke was crushing on one of the boys from the football team, and she wanted to be in the same group as him, but she was unaware of his answer. After a long night of debating what answer Brooke was going to give her teacher, she decided she should ask her mom for some advice. Brooke walked up to her mother the next morning and told her she must ask her a very important question. She asked her mom and her mom said
“Brooke quit asking me that nonsense.” Brooke still confused and worried about what answer she was going to give the teacher went up to her dad to ask the same question. Her dad gave the same response as her mom. Finally Brooke just decided to head to school and thought she would figure out her response before she got to class. Fourth period came quickly. The teacher looked at Brooke and said, “So Brooke, is the dress white and gold or black and blue?”
