This is a poem based on Lord of the Rings that I wrote for a grade 8 English assignment.
The Fellowship of the Ring

It was in Moria he perished, the great Gandalf the Grey,
leaving Aragorn son of Arathorn to lead the way.
To Mordor, to Mordor where Sauron does dwell,
the heartened quest had started over glade, glen and dell.

Frodo son of Drogo bore the ring, and bore it long,
he never betrayed the company's trust, and never put it on.
He bore it far, he bore it wide,
always swifter than those from whom he must hide.

Gimli was a courageous dwarf, one to be admired,
though when the Orcs tried to fight it was Legolas who swiftly fired.
With his elven bow and quiver that always shone so bright
he always slew many orcs, however hard they tried to fight.

Gollum the evil hobbit was like an amphibious toad,
yet Sméagol with his knowledge sometimes helped them on their road,
Faithful Sam Gamgee, though faithful and slow,
longed for his home in the shire on the Bagshot Row.

The thunk of their leaden packs, and the clink of their swords nigh,
as they go to the Crack of Doom to bid this evil ring Goodbye.
