This is a poem written with a different viewpoint

The House

I sit here or maybe I stand here, ok so I am just here, looking out at a field that never really changes, except through the seasons.

It would be depressing if all I ever did was see that field every day.

Except I don’t.

I watch cars go by and children ride bikes, families taking walks, dogs running by with their owners.

Occasionally I will catch a police car, ambulance or fire truck come around with their lights on. Boy! That is an exciting day.

What really gets me are the people who enter my doors every day, open my garage and sleep in my rooms.

Eat at the table in my kitchen, watch TV or play games in my family room.

Argue, cry, laugh, scream, yell, have bad dreams in my bedrooms.

Those are things that make me get through the day, make me feel useful and needed not feeling like just some old house looking through the windows watching the time pass by, but feeling the family grow within me.

After they all have settled down for the night and are protected by my walls, then I can take a moment to enjoy the field that doesn’t really change in front of me.
