I wrote this on my blog and thought it appropriate for Father's Day.
From my first breathes to my first child,

You have stuck with me through the worst of times.

You contributed to my growth, taking off some of the load

From my mother who you would give your soul.

Never surrendering to heat,

Never skipping a beat,

You held my hands

And watched my feet.

You could have run

And left me alone,

Gone back to your comfy, little home.

Like others who have done it before,

You could have let the waves,

Take you from the shore.

And into the moonlight,

Your ship would sail,

Your back to my face.

Your legs securing your tail.

But you stayed,

You held me,

Never to let me go.

Which is why I think it is so,

Appropriate to give you your due.

You are a mentor,

A brother,

A father,

And I love you.

Happy Father's Day!
