Here's a little something I wrote after I listened to my best friend's windup toy.
Twist, twist, I speak,
But the only thing you hear is a memory,
When you were little and winded me up,
And admired how I'd bring to you,
That memory, faded, meant to stay,
I'm hypnotized by the sounds,
Seeming to grasp me all around,
I try balancing above the ground,
Hoping that I don't forget,
We destroy our bad memories to stay strong,
Not knowing that we were all along,
The vagary, about to begin,
Slowing down, twist, twist,
Methods used to vanish, who we once were,
It will always be a part of us,
Whether we accept it or not,
I stare blankly without thinking,
Not at all blinking, sitting on the dresser,
Isolating my music, because you don't hear,
As you proceed further and further away from me,
Just see me as something more,
Than a memory you were before,
I try not to care but do I dare?
This is not fair, I'm slowing down,
Going deeper and deeper into a blank stare
