Is this for real?

Illusions

She came to the park in the heat, along with the mothers and their strollers, the men walking their dogs looking for women, the skaters and the students studying on the grass, the people watchers, the bird feeders, and the homeless seeking change. A man was doing magic tricks on the side of the walk and she went to him in hopes of a show and smile.

"Do you want to see a trick?" He asked

"Oh you do magic?" She replied

"No not magic... illusions. Magic doesn't exist," he said.

She smiled and knew he was wrong.

He could make balls float over his hands and pull your card from the deck.



The clouds moved. The colors were brightening with the shifting sun and she felt the happiness spreading through her.



"So what do you think?" He asked as he pulled and placed a bunch of live daisies in her hands.

"I still believe in magic," she replied as she began to hum, a smile cracked upon her lips ever so soft.
