Thoughts on watching the Perseid Meteor Shower - August 2015
Quiet is the night that surrounds me,
I lay down upon the cool, hard ground
Feel the dampness
Caress my skin as it sinks into my clothing.
My eyes scan the sky
waiting, waiting for the show to begin
The peace and tranquility of the midnight hour descends
and holds the world still
Waiting, waiting for the show to begin.
Then light streaks across the blackened depths
Silent streams of bright, white
Zinging across the celestial heavens
Breathtakingly awesome
I watch, transfixed
As the streaks cut across the sky
With an intensity that is beyond this world.
I feel so small,
Inconsequential,
Yet also so connected
I am part of this...
This great, wonderful
Universe.
